Four hidden 4-letter words are stacked in the field — one per row. Solve all four to win. Click a row to target it, type a full word, press ENTER; already-solved letters are filled in for you.
- A Direct hit — right letter, right tile. It locks in green forever.
- C2 Adjacent ping — this letter is NOT in this tile, but it IS in the tiles touching it: left, right, above, below, or diagonal. The little number counts how many of the touching tiles hold it. Pings can leak intel from the rows above and below. Hover or tap a blue tile to spotlight the tiles it could be hiding in.
- Q Cold — this letter is not in this tile or any of the tiles around it.
- M MINE! — 3 letters of the alphabet (in none of the four words) are live mines. Typing one detonates the volley: you lose 1 life and all intel from that guess.

Lose all 3 lives and the field is lost.
